Floor Plate Program
Part of the challenge of this design was to work out how the tower would actually function and design a program for it. Having 3 apartments per level, how would the vertical farm area be broken up, who farms the vertical farm? Would the vertical farm and the residential tower be completely seperate, with farmers not living in the residencies. I proposed a possible solution.
Facade Details
Presented for the interim crit, my design had the structure and the skin of the building as seperate elements. I wanted to combine the two to make a more streamlined design. Also, as part of the vertical farm, by creating a latice work structure within the building structure, residents can grow additional crops up the facade. This helps to filter the breezes as they pass through to the residents and creates a dynamic ever changing facade as the plants grow.

Initial Skyscraper
The function of my skyscraper is a vertical farm. Providing fresh fruit and vegetables for the Fortitude Valley community, this development will compliment the currently proposed markets at the RNA showgrounds.
The form has been generated around natural sun light. By creating a permeable floor plate, crops are able to be grown over the whole depth of the floor plate rather than just around the edges where the suns rays will penetrate.
